Resume and Experience

Let’s see… who am I?

I’m a Canadian with a passion for animation, game development, artificial intelligence, and software development. I hold a Bachelor’s degree (BCS) (2014) and Master’s (MSc) (2016) in Computer Science from the University of Windsor. I’ve worked in both Ontario, Canada and Michigan, USA, with over 10 years of experience in research and commercial applications.

Described as a “living cartoon” by friends, I’ve strived to work in creative fields such as game development and animation. In the meantime, I’ve worked independently under the self-proprietorship “Dust Scratch Games” since 2013, developing a novel method to render 2D animation in real-time 3D games and apps. This allows me to practice game design, story telling, fiction and non-fiction writing, comic illustration, and advocating for local artists as a hobby.

I’ve worked in companies and teams big and small, locally and across different time zones, under constant crunch and no crunch time, within one discipline and cross-disciplines, with experienced and inexperienced coworkers, under different forms of management and as management. I’ve developed strong opinions, including on group management, event management, and project planning. What you’re doing is probably wrong. I only know this from personal experience, and hope you won’t make those same mistakes made by me or those I’ve witnessed.

It’s not easy to follow your interests. It requires someone to tell you “yes,” not just that “you could.” It’s difficult emotionally, physically and financially to commit to. It’s risky for you and anyone that depends on you, or anyone you depend on. But, if done sustainably, I believe it’s important to do and should be explored by anyone who has the courage to do so. Having a unified vision to utilize these skills as an individual can lead to achievements far beyond that of the largest organizations. Do not sacrifice your dreams for the sake of achieving just one, instead pursue them all equally and with determination, and live in one huge fantasy. And finally: if things don’t seem to be working, don’t be afraid to use a new sheet of paper and start from scratch.

… This doesn’t really explain my “resume” does it? Just the type of person I am…
